Cynthia Harris - counseling services - New Day Counseling Center, Inc., PC in Fayetteville, NC

Cynthia Harris, MSSW, LCSW, CEO

I have 27 years' experience in helping couples, families, teens, and children feel better, get along with each other peacefully, and achieve their personal goals. I am non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive and I believe that together, we can come up with the right solutions for you. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy methods, emphasizing the link between what we think and how we behave. Therapy for most clients can be accomplished using a brief therapy, solution-focused model.

I have extensive experience treating survivors of all kinds of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. I also enjoy working with couples and have 14 years of experience working with issues unique to military service. I especially like working with children and helping them achieve better control over their behavior and restoring harmony in their households. I also treat mood disorders, addictions, anger and stress management, ADHD assessment, and behavioral disorders.
Carol Zeleznik - counseling services - New Day Counseling Center, Inc., PC in Fayetteville, NC

Carol Zeleznik, MA, Lcmhc, MAMFT

I am available to school age children, individual adults, couples and families in cognitive-behavioral and insight oriented therapeutic models. I base all of my work on the premise that our relationship with ourselves and others is not only our primary life's purpose, but is the way we achieve optimal self and other awareness, and a richer sense of community and belonging . I have observed relationship difficulties negatively affecting every age group and contribute to acting out behaviors in children.

I believe that we can trace our adult struggles in intimate relationship and communication back to childhood and the difficulties we faced. Like a lot of therapists, I spend time with clients focused on how we coped and what we believed when our needs went unmet and feelings went unacknowledged.

The belief systems, coping skills, fears and esteem issues we unconsciously created in childhood to help with the feelings of powerlessness and self-doubt are the legacy we bring to adulthood. The problem is that our legacy's source in the powerlessness of childhood has nothing to do with the power and multitude of choices available in adulthood. And yet we often don't feel powerful because the triggers of current events propel us back to childhood struggles, as if we are powerless all over again. Processing those memories and feelings, and recognizing a new reality from the advantage point of adulthood, we can then answer the question of why we struggle to forgive, accept and love ourselves.

My hope is that all clients are able to reach a level of self-love and self-acceptance commensurate with their needs.

Norman Carter, MS, NCC, Lcmhc, LCAS-A

My experiences both in and out of the therapy office have enhanced my ability to provide empathetic and multi-faceted clinical treatment to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I’ve worked with families from all socio-economic and ethnic/religious backgrounds. I enjoy working with those who may be struggling with family dynamics, relationship pain, school/work stressors, behavior disorders and/or identity issues. I work with adults, adolescents, school age children, couples and families providing individual therapy, family therapy, and couples counseling in cognitive-behavioral and insight oriented therapeutic models.
Having spent 20+ years in the military, I know and understand the stress of everyday military life, deployment and redeployment. I believe that therapy is a collaborative affair where the individual is their own expert. I provide an environment that is safe and nurturing where you will feel welcome, understood and safe to explore life's difficulties, and receive the respect we all deserve.

Although I primarily use the cognitive-behavioral and insight oriented therapeutic models, I also like to utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach, depending on the issues, and encourage the client to be the ultimate guide in the treatment process. The work that we do is a collaborative journey in which clients learn how to identify, and then modify, the thoughts, emotions and behaviors that contribute to their distress.

You will find my style to be relaxed and non-judgmental yet professional. Our work together will be done in an inviting, comfortable and tranquil office.

As the receptionist, Lindsey Thomason assists our clients with scheduling, claim and insurance information, and filing.  She has a Bachelor's degree in Education and is friendly and helpful.
